How NetPayLabs works

Every estimate is built from published 2025 parameters: IRS federal brackets and standard deductions, the Social Security Administration wage base, and state rates, brackets and standard deductions compiled by the Tax Foundation. Calculations happen in your browser with the same formulas payroll departments use as a starting point — annualise, deduct, apply the schedules, and split the result back per paycheck. Read our methodology for exactly what is and is not modelled.

Frequently asked questions

Are these calculators free and private?

Yes. Every calculator is free and runs entirely in your web browser — the numbers you type never leave your device and are never stored.

How accurate are the estimates?

They use official 2025 federal parameters (IRS brackets and standard deduction as increased by the One Big Beautiful Bill Act; the Social Security wage base of $176,100) and 2025 state rates and brackets compiled by the Tax Foundation. They are estimates: your W-4, pre-tax deductions, credits and local taxes can move the real figure.

What is the difference between gross and net pay?

Gross pay is what you earn before deductions. Net (take-home) pay is what lands in your bank account after federal income tax, FICA and state tax — plus any benefit deductions your employer takes, which these calculators do not model.

Which states have no state income tax?

Alaska, Florida, Nevada, New Hampshire, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Washington and Wyoming do not tax wages in 2025.

Estimate only — not tax advice. NetPayLabs provides general educational estimates using 2025 federal and state tax parameters, the standard deduction, and simplified state rules. Your actual withholding and tax depend on your W-4, pre-tax deductions (401(k), health premiums), credits, local taxes and your full return. Consult a qualified tax professional for advice about your situation.
